Saturday, November 17 – Still in St. Augustine:
How many times have I written, “woke up to howling wind and gray skies”? Well, ditto.  The weather is actually getting worse!  Last night we woke up to something thumping and finally figured out the sound was coming in the vicinity of the dinghy.  So Bob went out and tightened all the lines and the dinghy cover and that seemed to solve the problem.  Today, in addition to the wind and chilly temperatures, the sky was filled with dark clouds and the threat of thunderstorms was ever present, but so far there has been no rain.  It missed a great opportunity! Notwithstanding the people who are still suffering from the affects of Hurricane Sandy, but this is getting boring!  I thought Florida was supposed to be the “Sunshine State?”  Ever since we cruised over the Florida border from Georgia the weather has been awful.  I think Florida should consider changing its name to the “Gloomy State.”
We didn’t have a whole lot on our “to do” list, so we pretended we were recluses and didn’t stick our noses out of the boat.  This gave us the opportunity to really get “cabin fever” so we can leave tomorrow no matter what!  Our day basically consisted of playing cards, taking messages off our home phone, reading, puzzles, naps, etc.  That’s about it – you can really stop reading now!  Not too many boats came and went either – as a matter of fact – only one, and he came in late this afternoon.
As I write this at about 5:30 p.m., the wind is (guess what?) still howling, and the boat is rocking around.  We are going to have something really exciting for dinner tonight – leftovers!  Well, maybe I’ll make ginger glazed carrots to go with the leftover pork tenderloin – wine might help also.
I swear – tomorrow we are leaving!  Off to Adventure Yacht Harbor just past Daytona – that has an interesting ring to it, doesn’t it?  Wonder if we’ll encounter any adventures along the way?

  1. Hang in there Liz and Bob... Cabin fever won't last long.
Jim and I know how you feel. Jim finally got his cast off his foot and can start to put weight on his foot only when wearing one of those Boots. He got out of the house this week and got his hair cut.
