Thursday, November 22 (Thanksgiving) – Cocoa
What I am thankful for today, other than family and friends (which, yes, are the most important!), is that we got here yesterday; because if we were to come here today, it wouldn’t have happened!  The day dawned sunny, but the wind is still howling – worse than yesterday!  The whitecaps on the Indian River look like galloping herds of horses.  The boats in this marina are rocking all over the place!  Another thing I am thankful for is that we are in a slip right up against the land, which gives us some protection.  I don’t know when this is ever going to stop, and I’m starting to think that maybe this will continue on forever!
With that said, this has been the most unusual Thanksgiving I have ever spent.   We had a nice breakfast, which included some wonderful croissants from a bakery here in Cocoa, then I did laundry.
I don’t know how two people can generate so much laundry.  It seems like every week, I have two machines of clothes to do.  I shouldn’t tell anyone this, but we seem to wear our clothes until there is a question of whether we should actually wash them, or throw them in the trash, but there it is – two loads every week.  Oh well.  I thought that no one would be using the machines, but I was wrong!  There were at least two other people who had the same idea as me!  We had a lovely chat about the weather – they felt the same as I do.  After the laundry, we played cards, then worked on the computers, then had lunch, then went for a walk around the town.  Everything was pretty much closed except for a little ice cream shop on one of the side streets, which Bob’s internal GPS honed right in on!  There were lots of other people walking around, and two of the restaurants were open serving dinner, but they were booked, of course, ages ago.
We came back to the boat, I clipped kitty cat’s claws, much to her annoyance, Bob sent some e-mails, and I worked on a sewing project I had intended to start month’s ago.  And that has pretty much been our day – a long way off from cooking a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings.
I will make a stab a preparing some fowl to celebrate the holiday tonight – fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, lima beans (well, we like them), cranberry sauce, and ice cream for dessert.  We sort of missed watching football, but we can’t get a signal for the TV with all this wind, and maybe, the huge condos here have something to do with it.
Well, I feel like I have been in a video game, and have finally, successfully, completed Level I.  I see the blinking lights letting me know I can now go on to Level II.  That will probably be flying home with the cat!
Palm trees blowing in the wind!
Hope you all had a great day!
