Monday, March 4, 2013 – Whiticar Boat Yard – Stuart:
Well, there’s not much to write about today, I’m afraid.  It was all about getting the new microwave installed.    It was 58° inside the boat when we got up this morning, but I can’t complain because we just turned on the heat, and the boat warmed up in no time.
We ate a quick breakfast, and then Bob went up to the office to check in and find out what the schedule would be.  We were scheduled for 10:15 a.m. and sure enough, promptly at 10:15, the workman came to take out the old microwave and put in the new.  That entire operation took about four hours with an hour in between for lunch.  It took four hours because they had to dismantle the entire galley in order to get the microwave out.  (Well, it wasn’t quite that bad, but it was rather difficult to get the microwave out of the space it was bolted into.) One of the questions I had was why I couldn’t use the cooktop and the microwave together, and why I couldn’t use all three burners on the cooktop at the same time.  Either of those two operations would cause the circuit breaker to trip, and any food I was cooking would complain.  I found out that because of the way the volts and amps work (and don’t ask me what either of those two things are – when someone tries to explain anything electric, my brain just starts to burn and get frazzled) that I will never be able to use the cooktop and the microwave together, and I can’t use more than the back burner and one other front burner without completely tearing the boat apart and sawing it in half and re-wiring the whole boat and some of the boat yard.  Well, something like that.
Anyway, the bottom line is that now I have a brand new microwave that is supposed to grill, be a convection oven, bake, and also be a normal microwave.  We’ll see how all this goes.
In the meantime today, Bob and I didn’t do much.  It warmed up in the afternoon and we spent some time up on the fly bridge.  Bob made reservations at the Ft. Pierce City Marina for tomorrow, and then we will go on to Vero Beach on Wednesday.
Even the cat didn’t do anything today!
