Monday, March 18, 2013 – Cocoa:
I have no idea how I managed to think yesterday was Thursday.  I guess that’s what happens when you are on a boat for six months and completely lose track of time!  Actually, right now it is Tuesday – I didn’t get to write the journal or “blog” yesterday, because we were having too much fun!  But, let’s see if I can remember anything about yesterday, which happened to be Monday as it says on the heading of this missive.
I would make a terrible witness because I really can’t remember what I had for breakfast today, and that was only a couple of hours ago!   So if I was on a witness stand, everything I said would be “I can’t recall!”  So I will have to struggle to remember the events of yesterday!
First off – we got up – yeah, I think so anyway.  I remember I had a pile of laundry to do, and we had to do some other fun stuff like get a “pump-out”.  I still don’t know, and will never figure out, how two people and a cat can generate so much laundry especially as there are times that we wear the same things over and over until it becomes a question of whether or not the clothes have become hazardous material and the marina will discover that I have actually used their washing machines to clean this stuff, and we will be asked to leave.
I won’t go into the pump-out episode, but let’s just say, we stretched it to about its limit, and I think we discovered that the probe that indicates “full” doesn’t really work.
We had invited the people over who came to look at our boat yesterday (whatever day that was) for drinks and whatever h’or d’oeuvres I could come up with, so I always feel the need to clean the boat, and so I did, and Bob was nice enough to help by vacuuming.  I can’t believe that we actually brought the house vacuum cleaner with us on this trip, but we have sure used it.
We need to run out of food before next Tuesday (Monday night, really), so I had some sausage that I cut into small slices and sautéed up for an h’or d’oeuvre, and, surprisingly, it was pretty tasty.  Our guests came over about 5:45 p.m., and we had a nice time with them.  They stayed till 8:00 and by that time I was too tired to write.  It is amazing that you can chat with people you have never met before for over two hours and talk like you are old friends.  Karen and I showed each other pictures of our grandchildren, and Bob and Bill spent a lot of time in the engine room.  We were like old friends, and it’s so funny, because the odds are we will probably never see them again.  Except tomorrow (that’s today) as we are going to stroll over and take a look at their boat.
Tomorrow (that’s Wednesday) we are going to go out to dinner with another boat neighbor, and then on Sunday (if I can keep my days straight) we are going to go out to brunch with another boat neighbor!
I have taken most of the chicken out of the freezer, and today I am going to cook up a mess of fried chicken and have a real “Sunday” dinner even though today is Tuesday.  Are you confused?  I certainly am.
