Friday, January 25, 2013 – Cocoa (still here….)
Another beautiful day and it’s a bit warmer.  People are now back in shorts and short-sleeved shirts although that’s a bit too much for me.  I used the marina facilities to take a shower this morning, and when I came back to the boat, a couple who is on another DeFever 44 close to us (not the one who pulled in next to us yesterday) has strolled over to talk to Bob who was puttering around on the deck.  They turned out to be a very nice couple from North Carolina who actually owned a slip here and came down every winter.  They were on their way into town to have breakfast but before they went on their way, they invited us over to their boat this afternoon for cocktails.  I’m starting to feel like maybe I’ll get back to normal!
After that, we called Enterprise, and they came and picked us up, and now we have a car (a white mini-van actually) for the whole entire weekend!  One of the errands we have to run is a trip to the Verizon store to find out why I can’t download the pictures I take with my camera phone onto my computer.  So the nice young man explained the whole thing to me and said he fixed my phone so that the pictures would be definitely saved to the little memory card.  And, of course, he showed me how to do all the little changes he made, but if you think I can remember any of them, you can think again!  Anyway, he told me that my pictures are also automatically saved in Picasa, and I can just sign on to that website and see them there.  I was thinking, “ yeah, this will be about as easy as signing onto the phone company website.”  But, whaddya know, I tried it, and I don’t know how or why this is, but the pictures popped up without my having to do any other sign-in procedures!  So, hopefully, I have saved one of the pictures to the desktop, and I will be able to download it when I finish this blog.  We’ll see in a few minutes.   Maybe there is hope…
Then we hit the Olive Garden for “dinner”, because we won’t be eating anything tonight, and then we went to Publix for some grocery shopping.  I had been told that Publix offers a senior citizen discount on Wednesdays, but I learned this after we had spent the national debt last Wednesday!  So I asked them about their “discounts” and they told me that, in Florida, they don’t offer any discounts whatsoever.  I can’t tell you how much better that made me feel, but I will definitely be checking our grocery store back home to see if I can take advantage of being old there!  While at the store, we ran into another sailboat couple we have become friends with at this marina, and chatted with them awhile.  It would be nice to be able to get together with them before we head out of here and move farther south.
Back to the boat to put everything away, feed the cat, and rest up for our social engagement tonight!
Only a few more days left here…
