Tuesday, January 22, 2013 – Cocoa:
Oh my
gosh! I guess I missed almost a week of
writing. Well, that’s ok, because it
would have definitely been boring. I
feel much better, and so we really need to get our act together and make tracks
outta here so I can have something to write about!
It has
definitely been winter here today. Woke
up to howling, gusting wind with the boat rocking around in the slip. We went into town at lunch time and
practically got blown off the dock. We
are wearing turtlenecks, sweatshirts, socks, and jackets. We have the heat on in the boat and haven’t
even thought about going up on the flybridge.
It’s so windy, even the birds aren’t flying! Our new smart phone says the temperature
outside is 67, but with the wind it sure doesn’t feel like that – even in town
where we are off the water, it feels chilly.
There were people eating outside at the sidewalk cafes – but they’re
crazy.
We had a
disappointing lunch at one of our favorite spots, but I guess that happens
sometimes. There were a lot of people
strolling around the town, but after lunch we decided to head right back to the
boat. As I managed to stay up for the
whole day, we filled up the day by doing a boat cleaning, playing cards and
catching up on e-mails, etc.
Bob is planning
on grilling a steak outside tonight (if it doesn’t blow off the grill!), and I
will sauté up some spinach in a little olive oil and garlic. I wish I had something more exciting to write
about, but at least I am back on the “road to wellville.” If you haven’t seen that movie, you
should!! I seriously am glad to be
better again, and whatever I had, it was horrid, and I don’t ever want it
again! I suppose if it wasn’t the flu,
it was something unknown to science!
Anyway, I’m glad to be better!!
We are
planning on leaving Cocoa now on Tuesday, January 29, and will stop in
Melbourne for one night and then on to Vero Beach for a week or so. More later…
