Sunday, February 3, 2013 – Vero Beach (Super Bowl Sunday):
We had
another kitty cat break-through! It has
been four months since we became live-aboards, and, today, timid little Lucy
found her way up to the flybridge! She
had gone for a deck stroll, and I was just heading down off the flybridge to go
take a shower when Lucy looked up at me
and meowed. Well, I couldn’t help but
encourage her to come up with me, and after about 10 minutes of coaxing, she
jumped up on the aft cabin top and explored around under the dinghy. I continued to tell her how brave she was,
and lo and behold (!), she climbed up the stairs and there she was – in full
explore mode. She had the best
time! I guess she was pretending she was
a panther and this was her new territory!
I praised her and praised her, and told her how brave she was, and gave
her her favorite kitty-cat back scratch.
She was so proud of herself, and afterwards when we went back into the
cabin she always wants to play “lions of the Serengeti”, which, I of course,
always lose. She is definitely making
progress!
As this is
the last day we have the car, we went back into Vero Beach, had lunch again at
Kelley’s and went grocery shopping at Publix to restock up on milk, eggs,
bread, etc.
It was
really chilly again this morning, but it has now warmed up nicely again, and we
spent the afternoon playing cards and reading.
As we can’t
get the Super Bowl on our TV, we have made reservations at the Riverside Bar
and Grill which is practically next door, and we will be spending the next few
hours in a bar. Sort of a first for us,
but we are planning on having a good time especially if the Ravens win!
Our plan is
to leave here on Wednesday and head for Stuart and Whiticar Boatyard. Gotta go now and cheer on the Ravens. More later…
GO RAVENS!!!
