One week to go before we leave.  Nothing much to post except that there is a flurry (ha ha – that would actually be a monsoon) of activity around here.  I think we have taken everything out of our house and packed it on the boat except the kitchen sink, and that’s only because the boat already has a kitchen sink.   I’ve been told that you have to pack clothes for four seasons as you travel to Florida so along with winter coats, hats, and gloves are shorts and flip flops.  Planning meals has been interesting.  I have tried to plan a menu for one month, and then I’ll just repeat the meals.  Hopefully on nights that we anchor out, I can persuade Bob to grill out, and when we are in a marina, I’ll cook or we can go out for dinner.  I actually stowed the slow cooker for potential lay days at a marina figuring there would be nothing like exploring a little town and coming back to homey smells wafting from the boat.  There’s a good size freezer on the boat, so I figure I can plan on taking enough food for at least 30 days.  On another note, one family member remains clueless about our upcoming trip and that would be our cat.  She has no idea she is about to become a traveling, adventure feline.  If she did, she would hide so far under the bed nobody would ever find her.  She has been on the boat with us before, so she has adjusted, more or less, and I think she’ll be fine.  We had her microchipped, so if she decides to jump ship, hopefully, we’ll be able to find her.  She’s not terribly brave, so I hope a good, stern “NO” will keep her off any adjoining boats and docks.  There are always so many last minute odds and ends to be taken care of.  No matter how many times we get to cross items off the “to do” list, there are always more “to do’s” to add.  And there are always the last minute things that go wrong such as our Honda van now needs service as we can’t get the passenger window up (and it’s electric, of course) so we are off to the repair shop.  I guess that’s enough for now, and I just found another “pile of stuff” that has to go on the boat, so…later…
